CONGRATULATIONS to club member, Lorrie Dee Dukes!    Lorrie won an award for her research at the GA / FL Academy of Science   The states were combined this year in Jacksonville, FL.  Also Thursday Eve she spoke at the University of West GA at Big Night.  The annual event for the 6 best research projects of the year.  She also attended a Plate Tectonics Field trip and then  presented two different research projects at the Southeast Section of Geological Society of America in Charlotte NC.   All this after completing seven years of study at the University of West Georgia in Carrollton.  She graduated with honors on May 10, 2008 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Geology.  We are proud of you Lorrie Dee!!!!!

SHARK TOOTH

This shark tooth was found by club member Lori Griggs.  Found in the Savannah area

 One of our club projects is to display rocks collected by the club members at the Pine Mountain Gold Mine Museum in Villa Rica.  The Carroll County Rock Club members donated the display case.  Carl Lewis proudly smiles and shows off the rock display and display case at the Documentary Rollout presentation on May 29, 2008.
